The Syera remote relay operates on the LTE-M (Cat-M1) network worldwide. It is controlled by simple commands sent as SMS messges. A four digit pass code must be sent with each message to prevent false triggering of the command. Any received message that is not properly formed is discarded without any action taken.
The relay is a latching type which maintains state without drawing any power. The relay will maintain state through a power cycle as well.
The device integrates a current sensor. The current sensor measures instaneous load current. This can be helpful for battery powered deployments to determine current drain and subsequent remaining battery capacity.
The device integrates a temperature sensor. The temperature sensor measures ambient temperature near the device. This can be helpful especially when the deployment is enclosed and subject to high environment temperatures. Heat generated by nearby electronics (e.g. power supply) can cause a system to go into thermal shutdown. Keeping track of temperature may allow time to take action as necessary.
NOTE
If alerts are enabled high temperatures will be reported automatically.
WARNING
Make sure the relay is set to the correct state before connecting the load.
The general form of a command is PPPP,CMD[,ACTION][,OPTION], where:
The following commands are supported. The examples show a pass code of 0000. Replace this with your pass code.
Example
Setting Alternative Relay Control
You have a device like a tracker that can be configured to send text messages on geofence boundary crossings.
Now the relay will be turned on when the tracker enters the boundary and it will be turned off when it exits the boundary.
WARNING
Make sure the device is NOT powered when inserting or removing the SIM card.
The image shows a device that is powered separately from the load.
The green status LED on the PCB provides an indication of network status. By default the LED will be enabled from a power on reset and will stay active for one minute after which time it will be disabled to conserve power.
NOTE
The LED can be enabled permanently using the LED ON command. This may be useful while positioning the device.
The status report will return the following information. The values shown are for illustrative purposes only.
NOTE
Auto status reporting can be enabled with the Auto Status Reporting On command. When enabled the device will send a status report after the REL ON / OFF received command.
